ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival in Guatemala City
Arrive in Guatemala City and transfer to your hotel for the evening. You’ll have the rest of the day free to relax or take a stroll around Zona 10 (the “Zona Viva”), a lively area full of restaurants, cafes, and shops.
Overnight in Guatemala City.

Day 2: Guatemala City to Antigua
After breakfast, head to Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage city known for its well-preserved colonial architecture and vibrant atmosphere. Explore the cobblestone streets, colorful markets, and historic churches such as La Merced Church and Antigua Cathedral. Learn about the city’s fascinating history and role in the colonial era. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Guatemalan dinner at one of the local restaurants.

Day 3: Antigua to Lake Atitlán
Travel to the breathtaking Lake Atitlán, often described as one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. Surrounded by volcanoes and traditional Mayan villages, this serene location is perfect for both relaxation and exploration. Visit the village of Santiago Atitlán, home to the Mayan deity Maximón, and learn about the local culture and traditions.

Day 4: Explore Lake Atitlán & Villages
Today, take a boat tour of Lake Atitlán, stopping at several charming lakeside villages. Visit San Juan La Laguna, known for its vibrant Mayan art galleries and traditional weaving, and San Pedro La Laguna, where you can hike to the top of Volcán San Pedro for panoramic views of the lake. Along the way, learn about the indigenous cultures that have preserved their heritage for centuries.

Day 5: Lake Atitlán to Tikal
Travel to the northern Petén region to visit the Tikal National Park, home to one of the largest and most impressive Mayan ruins in the world. Explore the ancient temples and pyramids that rise above the dense rainforest. Tikal was once the center of the Mayan civilization and is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The sheer scale and beauty of the ruins will leave you in awe as you walk through the jungle and climb to the top of ancient pyramids for spectacular views.

Day 6: Tikal & Yaxhá Ruins Exploration
Spend the day exploring the magnificent Tikal ruins with a local guide who will bring the site’s history to life. In the afternoon, take a short trip to the lesser-known but equally impressive Yaxhá ruins, located by a stunning lake. Yaxhá offers a more tranquil and less crowded experience, making it a great opportunity to explore Mayan history without the crowds.

Day 7: Return to Guatemala City
After breakfast, begin your journey back to Guatemala City. On the way, stop at the Biotopo del Quetzal, a protected area known for its diverse wildlife, including the national bird of Guatemala, the quetzal. You’ll also have time for last-minute shopping and relaxation before your departure.

Day 8: Departure
After breakfast, enjoy some free time or explore more of the capital before your flight home.
